No More Ideas (+Art Showcase, etc.)

Being busy and blogging does not go well together. I will say, though, that the reason that I’ve been busy is great.

Hanging out with friends is always a good reason why to be busy.

Anywayyyyy-

Hi! It’s been awhile. I don’t dare to look at the date of my last post because I know that I’ll end up going into a long ranty apology that all of you must be tired of by now. I think I’ve been apologizing every post ever since I put my schedule up. oops

One of the main things I want to address this time is:

I’ve been running out of ideas.

It’s not so much my busy schedule that’s keeping me from posting, but rather, a lack of ideas. I’ve been blogging for a little over a year and a half now. My ideas for blog posts either pour down on me like like a waterfall and I get swept away in the tidal wave, or they come dripping out of a squeaky spigot in the middle of a desert.

And there’s no in between.

So I’ve pretty much resorted to blog about whatever catches my interest at the time. And because I was naive and on the high from last November, I decided to join Camp NaNoWriMo. That means that whatever time that I do have to write, I’m most likely putting it towards my word count. This poor web page is probably infested with spiders that decided to move in due to the lack of use here.

I will say though that I’ve noticed that I’m very inactive on my blog during the summer over here in the US of A. I’m attracted to the sun like a moth is to a flame- I love sunny weather and being active outside. Hopefully that with my pretty recent laptop, I’ll be able to sit outside more as I’m pounding out a new post. But don’t hold your breath. I don’t wanna be sued because you died from lack of oxygen.

This particular post is just going to be relaxed. I have no brain cells left to make an in depth post.

These pictures here is a before and after. The one on the left is from 2012, and the one on the right is from the Fall of 2017. I’m so pleased with how Lamess turned out! She’s my original character from my childhood days when I was obsessed with the cartoon Teen Titans. I literally tried to draw EVERYTHING in that art style- I kinda consider it the beginning of my art career.

Paint in works

I did this little beauty with MS paint and a mouse since I have no art tablet about a month and a half-ish ago. Ever since I created Miguel last October, I’ve been kinda drawing him all over the place. He’s just kinda my go-to character that I want to draw all the time.

For those of you who didn’t see those posts, Miguel is my original character that I made in preparation for NaNoWriMo 2017. I ended up not going with that comic project and decided to write a story together with my friend. See Graphictober: Ingenious- Graphic Novel Development and The Benefits Of Co-Writing. If you want to see a short story with him in it, check out Until I Wake.

Maybe I should make him the mascot of my blog…

What are your thoughts on this idea?

I’ve also been doing the Monthly Gemsona art challenge thing recently. It’s where you take a birthstone from a month, and you personify it into a human. I won’t be making regular posts on that challenge. I’ll be waiting until the end of the year to make one huge post about it (please keep me accountable on this!). But if you’re super duper curious and you don’t want to wait, I have a DeviantArt account now! I’ll be updating that challenge regularly whenever I finish a piece.*

(NOTE: I have removed my art from Deviant Art due to their new AI art policies. My Deviant Art account has been wiped!)

With music, I’ve been trying to learn piano and keyboard. I go to a free music workshop now, and in theory, I can basically play any song I want. Now It’s just a matter of practicing the songs I want to play.

*giggles manically in the background*

Also have been really addicted to this one Indie song lately. I can’t stop playing this at all. For those of you who don’t use YouTube, the name of the song is Bayou by Mountains of the Moon. This has been my ultimate chill out song that I have been abusing the replay button with.

That’s about it for now! I hope you had a happy Resurrection Sunday, and hopefully you’ll hear again from me pretty soon. ♥

Remember by Twitter friend from this post? She drew Lamess as a thank you, and I LOVE IT SO MUCH. ❤

Thanks for reading to the end of this post!

  1. I love your art! Those are amazing! (I’m especially impressed with what you were able to do with Paint. :O)
I also looked at your DeviantArt page and March is absolutely beautiful. 😀

    1. Thank you so much! 😀 I saw a tutorial on how to use MS Paint, and I was like “I CAN DO THAT! AND I CAN DO BETTER!” Mine ended up being about 13X more labor intensive though. XD

YAY. I’m glad you popped into DA! March is one of my personal favorites as well. ^_^

  2. I lovelovelove your art! Especially Miguel. 🙂 As for you not having ideas for blog posts, have you considered trying to make some money off of blogging? Like, if you wanted to sell your art or put it on T-shirts or something, you could set up a website for that and then have a related blog to drive traffic…. Actually, I’ve wanted to do something like that for a while, but I’m a major procrastinator. 😛
And now, off to follow you on DeviantArt! 🙂

    1. AAAAAHHHH! Thank you so much! :DDD Miguel is my baby, and I’m very proud of him. XD As for the blogging idea, I want to do something like that, but I don’t have a bank account or a PayPal account. Asking my family members to help me isn’t near in the future either- I don’t trust one with my money, and the other one doesn’t want to help me by letting me use her bank account. So I’m kinda flopping in the water until I can get a digital art pad and a bank account.

YAY! Thanks for checking out my DeviantArt page! ❤

  3. Hope you had a happy Resurrection Sunday as well. 🙂

“My ideas for blog posts either pour down on me like like a waterfall and I get swept away in the tidal wave, or they come dripping out of a squeaky spigot in the middle of a desert.”

I know the feeling. I write all of my posts in bursts of passion and inspiration, which is why my blog doesn’t seem to have a theme; my posts are just me writing down whatever I’m thinking about at a certain point.

When it comes to running out of ideas: don’t sweat it.

There will be people who will no longer follow a blog because of lack of content. But the people who matter will stay.

There’s that saying: “If you can’t handle me at my worst, you don’t deserve me at my best.”

So, one way to think of this time in your life is: this is a time to find out who deserves to remain in your life.

It is always a joy to see a new post from you. Your words are worth the wait.

Thank you for sharing your amazing pieces of art. Your art brings happy memories to mind. 🙂

    1. I did! Thank you so much- I came home from a 2 night sleepover on Easter Sunday. It was an amazing time spent with my friend’s family. 😀

Exactly! I’m annoyed because I want to write on a regular basis but I’m lacking topics to write about. And when they do come, i’m too overwhelmed with the large amount of ideas or I’m too busy. Go figure.

Thank you so much! And you’re right- if people are more willing to stay for the quantity rather than the quality, then I shouldn’t be too sad if they decide to unsubscribe. Their loss! LOL

AWWWWW. Thank you so much! I’m so glad my art brings back happy memories for you. ^_^

  4. Oh my goodness! Felicity, I’m still in awe with how you drew that one picture with a MOUSE. Seriously now. HOW DID YOU DO THAT. XD My blog cookies were made in MS paint (and a touchpad. not a mouse, as I didn’t feel like getting up and actually plugging the mouse into the laptop) but even then I had to use the circle-maker thing! How did you even DO this???
And I love seeing how your art has improved over the years! This post was so casual and fun! I loved it!

    1. I KNEW my magic spell book would come in handy! LOL! xD I looked up a tutorial on YouTube on how to use MS paint and make decent artwork on it, so I ran with it and gave it a try. Mine was… a lot more ambitious than the other person’s who was making the tutorial. xD

Yay! 😀 Thank you so much- it definitely came from some blood sweat and tears. Practicing was a major factor. ^_^ I might try a few more of these laid back posts in the future. They were a lot of fun to make. 😀

      1. Hahahahaha!!! XD Okay, now that makes a little bit more sense but STILL! I have no clue how you even did this. XD

EEEEEEW. Practice. 😛 XD Practice is definitely something that I need to do, especially with writing. I love seeing myself improve, but sometimes it’s a little difficult to force myself to write something, even though I know it’s going to make me a better writer. XD I would love to see more of these in the future! It was awesome!
